The shooting killed a teenager in Sweden and another suffered serious injuries


A teenager was killed in a shooting in Malmö, southern Sweden, and another was seriously injured, local police said on Sunday.

Both teenagers were in the pizzeria when several shots were heard on Saturday night. One of the injured was taken to the hospital by ambulance and the other arrived in a private car.

On Sunday, the Skane County Regional Health Board reported that one of the injured was dead and the other injured serious. The Board stated that the young people were 15-18 years old.

The local news portal reported that the fatalities were 15 years old. Eyewitnesses told the portal that attackers opened fire at pizzeria windows around 2pm on Saturday night and fled by bicycle.

Eyewitnesses told local newspaper "Sydsvenskan" that two people fled the scene on bikes. One bike was later found abandoned.

The pizzeria is located in the Malellangen district of Malmo. In recent years, Malmö has been the subject of news headlines about gang violence.

The motive for the shooting is still unknown.

Police have said no persons have been detained in the incident so far

The local reported that the shooting took place shortly after a car bomb exploded at the Kronprinsen tower near Malmö. As a result of the explosion, the car was damaged and pushed a few meters further and another car was damaged.

No one was injured in the explosion, but police are assessing a possible link between the two incidents.

This year, 29 explosions were recorded in Malmö.
